Video Poker

Video poker is a casino game which uses the foundation of five card draw poker. It is commonly played on computer screens. Video poker became popular with the rise of television and computer technology. Video poker was first introduced during the 1970s. International Game Technology has made rapid advances in video poker technology, and by the 1980s they could frequently be found in casinos. Small machines which offer better odds or low prices are very popular in places like Las Vegas.

How video poker is played

The game will start by players making a bet for a certain number of credits. They may also have to insert money into the machine, and there will be a button that they will need to press which may be labeled “Deal.” Pressing this button will allow cards to be drawn. A player will be given the option to hold or get rid of their existing cards with new cards from the deck. The machine will inspect the hand of the player, and a reward will be given if the hand of the player matches the winning hand produced by the machine.

How jackpots are rewarded

Many video poker machines will give what is called progressive jackpots. A progressive jackpot is a reward in which the value of the payout increases a little more with each game that is played. Some machines may be networked together for this purpose. This strategy will get players to spend more money by placing coins in the machine. Video poker devices are regulated by state laws, and must be calibrated to deliver random cards. A set number of cards will appear with each round, and five of these are typically dealt to the hand, with the other cards being dealt to the player.

Laws which regulate video poker

This method is common in the state of Nevada, and similar rules are followed by Indian gaming establishments. There are certain numerical limits placed on video poker machines, and the virtual numbers in the machines have to be equal to their real world counterparts. While five card draw is the basic type of poker which is offered by these machines, further variations such as Deuces Wild exist as well. These variations are typically found on newer poker machines.

Video poker payouts

Some machines offer what is called full pay games. These are games in which the machine offers the maximum payout available per game. With these machines players will sometimes find that the payout percentage is 100%. Video poker has gained a popularity which rivals the classic poker games which are played in casinos.
