The history of Keno

Keno is a gambling game which is similar to bingo. This game was first invented in ancient China during the Han Dynasty, though it had a different name. The name “keno” was given to the game in the United States during the 19th century. It is believed that the game was brought to the US by Chinese settlers during this time. The modern version of Keno can be compared to a lottery.

How Keno differs from bingo

Much like the lottery, keno is a game of numbers. The difference between keno and bingo is that in keno, players are able to pick the numbers they want. Cards in keno come with 80 numbers, and the players can choose as many numbers as they want. They will do this by making circles or marks around the numbers they pick. Once the numbers have been picked, the player will need to hand their card to the clerk. Once the clerk checks the card, he will hand the player a receipt.

How Keno is played

Once this information has been processed, players will watch a board or screen in which the winning digits will appear. When a number picked by a player lights up, they are supposed to mark it off on a card with a pen or marker. How many numbers the player picked which matches the winning numbers will determine how big of a prize they win. A player who has won will need to take their card to the clerk immediately after the winning numbers have be revealed. The process will then be repeated. If the next round starts and a player has not handed in their ticket, it expires and they don’t get any prizes.

Tips to remember when playing Keno

To avoid this some players will purchase what is called a “multi-race” ticket. A multi-race ticket is a ticket which has the same numbers on up to 20 tickets. Once the last round ends, the player can hand this ticket to the clerk without worrying about the ticket becoming expired. Some players even purchase what is called a “stray and play” ticket, and these tickets can be held for up to a year.

Many worldwide lotteries use rules which are based on keno. Each lottery will have different rules and variations, and the game may be played daily or weekly.
